Surgery? … Now?
March 3, 2009Yes, I know I just had surgery, but… here goes another one!
As we were driving up to Chico Friday afternoon, I got a call from Beth, the surgery coordinator at Stanford. She said they had a surgery date for March 12th and wanted to know if we could work with them since it was so close. US work with THEM? Umm…duh! It’s only taken five months for a surgery date to come around, I am NOT waiting for the next one!
So, this Thursday we have to go to the hospital for an all day pre-op appointment. We have to BE there at 8 AM, which means we have to leave at about 5 AM! Ugh.
The part that stinks is these next two weeks I have to do a “liquid” diet. I have to drink Boost drinks and I can also have yogurt, pudding, jello…etc. It’s okay, could be worse I guess.
Now all we have to do is PRAY. Because we still have not gotten an approval from the insurance. We could not know until the day before surgery, but I PRAY that it will happen before that.
So…ten more days. I CAN do this. Sis, I’m going to need your support on this. It’s only the first day of this liquid junk and I am already having a hard time…
Of course I am nervous, but I have been thinking about all this worrying that I seem to do so much…it is getting beyond ridiculous. The other night, I made the decision in my head I was not going to worry about this surgery. I know God has it in His hands and has complete control. If something does go wrong, it’s just part of His plan. I know He will guide and comfort me through this major change in my life. As soon as I silently made that decision, it was like a huge load was lifted off my shoulders!

Always,

Kait,
I am so proud of you. You are doing great. Keep giving it to God. I am praying with you and for you and you know I am here for you.
Love you so much!
Sis
Kait,
My name is Jodi and I have also been through a lot of health issues over the past five years. I had a gastric bypass five years ago…I weighed 336 lbs. at 5′6″…I am 47 yrs. old and have three boy’s, 25 yrs, 19 yrs, and 13 yrs old at this present date. I now weigh between 130-135 lbs. and have maintained that for the past five years. However when I finally had the bypass done I had been diagnosed with Systemic Lupus and Fibromyalgia and many other thing’s that go along with morbid obesity….anyway I was given 1 yr to live top’s unless I had the gastric bypass surgery done…..the fight with the insurance was a night mare and my Mother stepped in and took part of her retirement fund and paid cash for the gastric bypass in order to save my life. Yes it saved my life and I am so grateful and feel so blessed to have been given the gift of life. However I have had several health issues over the past five years and have been in and out of the hospital’s and ER’s…..it hasn’t been easy to say the least…in fact I just got home from spending my day and evening in ER….they gave me dialotted also and I hated it….but anyway I have been having some of the same issues you have described up to this date….and the doctor’s are all stumped also. Anyway I would love to chat with you and keep in contact so we can both talk about our health issues and what the doctor’s are doing or not doing…I have a lot of things to share with you if you are interested in a new friend who truly understands! Your story truly spoke out to me and touched my heart! If you feel comfortable and it’s okay with your parent’s then please email me at shearclasslady@yahoo.com. Please type out KAIT’S GASTRIC BYPASS so it catches my attention in the subject line and I don’t mistake it for junk mail and delete it by accident. I really hope to hear from you and I hope that I can help be a part of your support. I truly wish you the very best, I hope that you are feeling better and most of all I understand more than most people do. Take care!
