November 24, 2009

Because I can’t think of a creative title right now!

I’ve been doing okay, going to Summit has been helping a lot, as much as I dislike going. These past few days I’ve actually been talking in groups instead of keeping to myself the whole time. Next week I may be moving down to going three times a week. This week I’m only going for one day. Was supposed to go today but didn’t… A few weeks ago they moved me down to four days a week. Bad news is now that I love my therapist and have started working on trauma with her, she’s moving on to another job this week. So, starting all over again! One of the other ladies at Summit will be my therapist. This will be #13. I think that’s enough!!!

My body is a mess!!! End of October I started having sharp pain every time I would eat. Everyday it gradually got worse and I ended up going to a surgeon, who scheduled the surgery for that next Wednesday, November 4th. Later to find out my insurance had sent me to the wrong surgeon! HealthNet tried to find a pediatric surgeon, but they wouldn’t take me because I’ll be 18 in December. So HealthNet’s M.D. pretty much blew me off and said go to the ER if the pain got bad (which it already was). So, Thursday the 5th we went to UC Davis ER because my pain had gotten worse and at this point I couldn’t keep any food down from the nausea. They admitted me and gave me morphine and dilotted for the pain. Their GI doctors wouldn’t do my surgery since I had my Gastric Bypass at Stanford. So the trauma surgery team ended up taking me on, but couldn’t do the surgery until they could squeeze me in since I wasn’t really a “trauma” case. They kept me on pain medicine and IV fluids on Friday and took me in for surgery Saturday morning around 8:00am. I stayed that night (which was THE worst night I have EVER spent in a hospital) and went home Sunday afternoon. So, surgery #10 down. How many to go before I can be HEALTHY?

I already have three doctors appointments scheduled for December. It’s crazy.

December 7th – GYN ,December 18th – Stanford/Gastric Bypass Stuff, and December 21st – GI Doctor. And I’m having my birthday party in Chico on December 12th, and my party for my Sacramento friends on December 16th (my actual birthday). Besides being a “legal adult” I don’t see any other benefits to being 18 years old. I think it doesn’t feel like that big a deal to me because I often times forget I’m even that young!!! hah.

Sunday morning I went on a trail ride with my big sister (not really) Jenni =) That was SO fun! I forgot how much I missed being around the horses. There is nothing that can describe that feeling you get when you’re on the back of a horse. And if you’ve never been on a horse, you probably have no clue what I’m talking about and think I’m crazy! hehe So I got to ride Rusty, the paint horse I love (even though he’s a you-know-what sometimes!). It was good, I’ll be going out again soon, as long as the weather permits!

Also, last Thursday I finally went back to school! Yes, I know, FINALLY! I took four tests and did well on all of them. Still have one more unit to test on, then it’s time to crack open the text books again!

So, that’s enough about me, how’s everyone else?

Hugs,

Kaitlyn

PS. Here are some pretty recent pictures, since I haven’t posted pictures in awhile!

Probably my mom.

375 Days…

December 8, 2008

Until I turn 18! I know it seems silly to start counting now, but I seriously can NOT wait!

Okay, back to reality! I haven’t been blogging as much lately, no excuses, just haven’t. So, here are the pictures of Guido I said I would post.

No news about insurance, or doctors. My heart doctor put me on a blood pressure medication, and within one week, it went from 156/127 to 120/90! Major improvement! We found that out today, when I went to donate blood at a Bloodsource van outside our church today. I have to admit, I was kind of scared, but saving two lives was totally worth it! Now the muscle in my arm is super sore, but again, worth it! :)

Hopefully we’ll set up our Christmas tree tonight. My mom and stepdad have been shopping all day, so I’m not sure when they’ll be back! They said something about buying a fake tree (UGH) but, fake or not, it still makes the house Christmasy!

I’m so excited for Christmas! My 17th birthday is December 16th, and December 19th we’re going to Chico, and I’m going to stay with Brandon and Angie until Christmas day!

Merry CHRISTmas!!!

Thanksgiving Rush

December 2, 2008

Whew! This is the first time I have had a chance to breathe since last Wednesday! We left early Thursday morning for the 4 hour drive to Monterey/Carmel. Had Thanksgiving with the step-family, played games, etc.

Then we got up early to go shopping in Downtown Carmel, which was extremely crowded, but fun all the same. Everything is so expensive though! Saturday morning, we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium which was amazing! I had never been there and it was a facinating experience.

After that, we went to meet Guido’s new parents! He was so excited to see me he jumped all over the place. Emmy and Hans were so nice, they were so grateful for Guido and it was great to see them and Guido so happy! Emmy said they would bring Guido to come visit me when I have my surgery at Stanford :) He’s a registered service dog, so he can go anywhere.

I still have to upload the pictures, so I will post them in a different post.

Comment away!

Where Did My Hair Go?!?

November 27, 2008

I got my hair layered and thinned for the first time EVER last Friday. I am still getting used to it…it is kind of frizzy/curly/fluffy and I’m only used to it being straight, because it was so thick it couldn’t do anything else! I can actually wear my hair down without my neck getting 105 degrees!

So…Do you like it?

Hurry Up, Friday!

November 19, 2008

We’re going to Chico this weekend, but before that, Friday is my appointment at Castro Commons. I am SO nervous and excited. We’re taking the letter directly from my primary care doctor straight to Dr. Shepard with us on Friday. I am just praying that I get a tentative surgery date.

Also, I got the blood test results today from the Heart Doctor. They don’t really make much sense without the doctor here to explain…so I’ll have to wait until Monday. I tried doing some research to figure out what each test meant,  but didn’t get very much information. The papers say that 8 of the results are “too high.” But I don’t know what they mean yet. Hopefully they’re not too bad.

Well, It’s not even Wednesday yet and I’m having to hold myself back from starting to pack for our trip to Chico. I am way too excited! This Saturday I am spending a night with my bestest buddies Lindsey & Kathleen! I am so happy because we haven’t had much time together since I moved, and all nighters are always fun, especially with church in the morning…possibly.  :-P   And, I’m even more excited because I got a puppy sitter, so I don’t have to stress about the puppy and just have a good time.

That’s all for now,

Much Love,

Kaitlyn

Random Quirks

Random Quirks Information

Here are the rules: “MY UNSPECTACULAR QUIRKS”

1. Link to the person who tagged you
2. Mention the rules on your blog
3. Tell 7 unspectacular quirks about you

4. Tag 6 bloggers by linking to them
5. Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they’ve been tagged

I was tagged by Diane!

My Quirks:

  1. I only drink water if it is ice cold, even in the winter time.
  2. I am very knowledgable about dogs. Some would call me a dog snob…and I train Guide Dogs for the Blind.
  3. When I ride bikes with others, I hate when people ride on the left side of me. For some reason it makes me feel unsafe. Weird, I know.
  4. I absolutely hate change. Moving was a BIG one for me, and after more than a year, I am finally accepting it.
  5. I have (and was probably born with) Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Insulin Resistance.
  6. I think any Italian food is better cold. This goes for Lasanga, Spaghetti, Pizza, etc. Yes, I am Italian :)
  7. I love chocolate, but I don’t like Chocolate ice cream or cake. Just pure chocolate! And only milk chocolate. Dark chocolate is too strong.

Okay…those are my quirks. I don’t think I know six people who blog, so I’ll just tag the ones I do know!

I tagged…
