Life? Where Did You Go?!?

October 28, 2009

Hi All,

It’s been a long few months! After I got home from CFD on August 18th, I was going to Summit Eating Disorders Outpatient Program for 8-12 hours a day. The first day I was at Summit, we went out to lunch at an Asian Noodle Bar. I was scared to death because I knew Asian food made my mom sick after her surgery…and I’d never eaten noodles before. I refused to eat lunch, and that is what started me on my backwards road from recovery.

After several times of refusing foods I didn’t think I could eat, Summit staff told me that I would not be able to stay in their progam. My mom picked me up mid-day Wednesday August 26th and I was at home (by myself most the time) for about a week. If you know anything about bulimia or eating disorders, you know this is a recipe for disaster!

It only took a week for me to get even worse than I was before I went to CFD. I’m not going to say I was right back to where I started, I wasn’t. I still had learned and was knowledgable of what I needed to do…I just didn’t think I had the strength to do it. After a clinic appointment with Dr. Peebles, I was sent back to the CCP unit at Lucile Packard. I ate everything while I was there, took my meds, the whole bit. I only stayed five days, and went back home for a week.

At home,  I was restricting my food intake, and my depression was really bad. I honestly saw no point in living anymore. I was sent back to CFD on Friday September 18th. I guess I just needed a little help getting back on my feet and believing in myself. I think it helped a lot.

I came home on October 12th, and started at Summit the next morning. I was a little nervous about going back, but it has been going really well so far! I started out going Monday-Friday from 8-11 or 12 everyday. Next week I will be going four days a week, since I am doing so well! I never thought I would get to this point. Ever. Finally seeing a tiny speck of light at the end of the tunnel…

And of course, there’s always another health issue. I’ve been getting pain and nausea everytime I eat. We went to the ER after I got so nauseous I turned a shade of green (I didn’t see it, but that’s what the nurse told me) and the doctor at the ER did an ultrasound of my gallbladder, which has gallstones. So hopefully I will see a surgeon this week (still fighting with the insurance about that) and get this surgery over with soon, so I can get back to my recovery! Because being nauseous everytime you eat does NOT help with an eating disorder recovery.

Also, check out my other blog to read about my new puppy! http://kaitlynsguidedogs.wordpress.com/

Surgery Update

February 20, 2009

Hey All,

Surgery went well. No cancer or anything bad was found. Which is good news. But…if my pain doesn’t go away, we may end up doing another surgery with the laproscope or whatever it’s called to check my ovaries, because that may be where my pain is coming from.

I hope and pray that this takes care of my pain, but I am not so sure. It is a different kind of pain than it has been before with my previous surgeries.

Keep praying. I’ll keep trusting God.

More Later,

Always,

Kaitlyn

Early Morning Blogging

November 6, 2008

So, here it is at 2:10AM in the morning. I thought I was exhausted, but my mind just won’t shut off. A billion things are just rushing through my mind. Emotions, contemplations, thoughts…

Maybe I’ll go take some Benedryl so I can get some sleep. And of course, I’m itchy still from the stupid heart monitor.

There’s nothing you can do but pray. Please pray.

People

November 2, 2008

Have you ever thought about how much each person that you ever come into contact with, has some kind of an influence on you?

I think anyone that you ever talk to can effect you somehow, negative or positive. People that may effect your life deeply could be parents, friends, family, co-workers, teachers or anyone you see or talk to on a regular basis. Others could be the person who actually apologized when they bumped into you at the store, or someone who never really talked to you commenting on your appearance.

 Just something to think about.

September 27, 2008

Columbo is now 6 months old! I cannot believe how fast time has gone by. He’s showing some signs of fear from certain random things, so he’s currently on food protocol when on outings. Our next outing with the club is to Chuckee Cheese, so that should be interesting!

I didn’t get a surgery date, as we’re still fighting with the insurance so Stanford can even send the letter for approval. Then after they send the letter, they might not even approve it.

Independent Study is okay. I miss being around other people but it gives me more time for exercise and for Columbo. I already finished a class. US History. Took me four weeks. Now I’m working on Comparative Religions, ADV. English, and PE. For my Religions class, I just read Anne Frank’s essay “GIVE!” If you haven’t read it I strongly recommend you do!

I took Columbo to Chico with me for about a week. He had fun playing with my brother and sister-in-law’s black lab, Kobe. Kobe wasn’t always so enthusiastic, but it was good for Columbo to “live” with another dog that actually doesn’t want to play all the time.

That’s all for now…I think?!

So…my next appointment at Stanford is the 22nd of this month. I hope they give me a surgery date but I don’t know for sure yet.

Columbo’s at GDB being evaluated for his health issues. I started volunteering at Homeward Bound today, a golden retriever rescue. It was pretty fun! I got to take out five different dogs and love on them and walk them.

We’re going to Chico this Monday-Wednesday, which is OK I guess, I just hate going there because I have to LEAVE.

I’m signed up for Independent Study, so I’ll get to work at my own pace, which (hopefully) will be a little faster than traditional school.
That’s pretty much it.
More later.

Summer

June 20, 2008

Well, so far summer’s ok…Columbo’s very smart and learning fast (when he’s not sleeping). Other than that, it’s been quite boring…

This weekend we’re headed to Chico, so I’ll get to see some friends! When mom and Doug go to Oregon for the Fourth of July I’m going to stay with Kathleen and then maybe Brandon. So I’ll be in Chico for about 10 days or so…

I’ve gotta go get ready for the guide dog meeting,

Life

June 12, 2008

Life stinks right now! Guido was career changed and Raelyn was also career changed in the same month. Guido had a cataract in his right eye, and Raelyn was afraid of crowds.
I got a new puppy, he’ll be 11 weeks today. His name is Columbo, male yellow lab. His parents are Baker/Joyann. He’s very calm for a puppy, I hope he stays that way!

My summer has been sort of boring, and frustrating. Two of my friends in Chico had to evacuate from the fires. I’m not sure who I’m going to stay with when I go to Chico for the 4th of July because Ryan is staying with Brandon now, since our dad moved back to Washington. I’d stay with Lindsey but she’s going to be gone.

At least I’ll be a Junior next year…and I’m almost aproved to have the surgery.

April 23rd 2008

April 23, 2008

I keep forgeting to update my blog but I doubt anyone reads it anyways…
this week we’ve been doing STAR testing at school, and watching a movie everyday! It’s so boring! Today we finished at 10:00AM and we had to stay until 12:30.

Guido is currently in phase 8 of his guide dog training! Woohoo! I sure hope he graduates…he’ll be my first guide :o D
Raelyn is doing better, still needing improvement but doing much better than she was when I got her! I took her to school yesterday since we have half days and she did wonderfully (except for the occasional groan during the test) That was embarrassing!
Oh well, we love them anyway right?
I’ve got to remember to update this thing!
Later,
Me

Life…

March 12, 2008

So…I haven’t posted for…awhile. Let’s see what has happened since Christmas!

*Guido went back for training January 13th (He’s now in phase 5!)

*I got a new puppy, female black lab, named Raelyn. She’s now 6 months. Her parents are Domingo and Harmony.

*I’m on the honor roll :o )

That’s pretty much the major points. I’ll try to update this more!
